Agriculture : Agriculture was the backbone of the civilization. The Indus people produced wheat,barley, jowar, ragi, peas, musrard and sesamum etc.Rice husks were found at Rangpur and Lorhal.

★Cotton was first produced in this area in the world.
Domestication of animal:
★ Harappan people domesticated ass,goat,pig,elephants, dog etc.
★The humped bull were favoured by the Harappan.
★Camel bones are reported at Kalibangan and remains of horse at Surkotada.
Trade and commerce: Trade was a part of Harppan economy. There was two types trade-internal and external.
